How to Cleanse Your Tarot Cards- Spiritually and Physically

Updated: Jun 11

I'm sure you've been told that you need to cleanse your tarot cards every once in a while, especially if you've gone through periods of not using them. Whether you're picking up a deck after a period of inactivity or looking for a way to get that "new shuffle" feeling again, you're going to have to cleanse your cards sooner or later. In this post we're going to explore why it's important to cleanse our cards, both spiritually and physically, as well as the various ways to go about doing so.

Why Cleanse the Cards?

If you're anything like me, then you're rough on your cards. I'm a fast-paced shuffler and I tend to carry decks with me wherever I go. This type of card handling lends itself to picking up both daily dirt and random energies. I also have a bunch of different decks and I tend to go through phases with them. I'll use one for a while and my others will sit on the shelf, patiently waiting to get back into rotation. During a deck's time on the bench we lose our connection to it. Not in a way that can't be rebuilt though! We simply need to give the deck some TLC and reintegrate ourselves with the deck's energy. This is where the methods of spiritually cleansing your deck come into play.

Spiritually cleansing your deck is like a hard reset. It can be done anytime you're feeling disconnected from your deck or even after heavy reading sessions. Let's go over some of the various methods for reconnecting with our deck and clearing its accrued energy.
